Our vision

OUR VISION

Founded in 2015 by winemaker and surfer, Trizanne Barnard, Dawn Patrol Wines is a proudly South African brand passionate about the ocean, adventure, and making memorable moments over a glass of wine. Driven by a desire to live life with purpose, we are committed to social responsibility and environmental integrity in our production and partnerships.

Our dedication to community and marine health is realised through the Voice of the Oceans Ambassadors Programme. This initiative is powered by collaborations with Ocean Pledge, the Little Optimist Trust, and the Roxy Davis Foundation. These partnerships are central to our mission of elevating youth voices in ocean conservation by teaching practical environmental knowledge and public speaking skills. Proceeds from each case of our IPW-certified bottled wines and recyclable canned wines directly support this programme.

Having successfully launched six rounds, this initiative empowers young individuals to become advocates for marine health through education. This intentionality underscores Dawn Patrol’s core values: cultivating ocean awareness, ensuring tangible community engagement, and investing in the lasting impact on future generations through transparent, certified production methods.

Our grapes

OUR GRAPES

Our grapes are sourced from the Swartland Region, selected from farmers who follow certified environmental integrity standards, including Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) guidelines for soil cultivation. This area is characterised by its hot dry summers and cold wet winters, boasting a diverse soil composition of granite, shale, clay, and slate. This unique terroir contributes significantly to the distinctive structure and complexity of our wines.

The remaining grapes are sourced from the greater Coastal Region. The diverse soils and the region’s proximity to the ocean contribute to a rich terroir, enhancing the variety and depth found in our wines. By sourcing from IPW-compliant vineyards, we ensure that our grapes are grown with a focus on long-term soil health and biodiversity.

Our process

OUR PROCESS

We owe a lot to our dedicated farmers and their fantastic grapes. When it comes to making wine, we keep things simple and natural. We ferment our wines naturally and believe in minimal intervention from our side.

All our wines are IPW-certified, meaning we follow sustainable practices throughout the winemaking process. This ensures we have a minimal environmental impact and comply with international sustainability standards for the wine industry.
